Fact: Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. 2 in 3 Australians are diagnosed with skin cancer by age 70 & more than 2,000 people in Australia die from skin cancer each year*. The statistics are staggering yet most skin cancers can be prevented by the use of good sun protection. In addition to slipping on a shirt, hat and sunglasses experts recommend using a sunscreen daily, with SPF 30 of higher that offers broad spectrum protection.
So what does broad spectrum mean? There are 2 types of ultraviolet light that are harmful to your skin, UVA and UVB. Broad spectrum protection means the sunscreen offers protection against the full spectrum of harmful ultraviolet rays. Not all sunscreens offer this, so always read the label when you are shopping around.
Natural Instinct sunscreens are broad spectrum SPF 30. They contain Zinc Oxide as the active UV filter ingredient. Zinc Oxide is a physical filter that reflects harmful UVA and UVB rays. It functions like a ‘mirror’ on your skin and is a naturally sourced mineral.
The Tinted Face Natural Sunscreen is a multi-purpose facial sunscreen that offers sun protection, skin hydration, anti-ageing benefits and is lightly tinted for a dewy sun-kissed finish. The tint provides a medium coverage which suits most skin tones. You can use it as a tinted moisturiser or under makeup.
Here’s a simple day skincare routine to nourish and protect your skin:
Yes, the Natural Instinct tinted sunscreen can be used under your regular makeup. It has a matte finish and is not thick or heavy to apply. It offers medium coverage to even out skin tone. For a naturally radiant look, just apply your Tinted Sunscreen. Then pop on some mascara and lipstick to finish the look.
Yes, Natural Instinct Tinted Face Natural Sunscreen contains anti-oxidants - Rosehip Oil, Green Tea extract and Vitamin E to help replenish your skin and prevent signs of ageing. It deeply moisturises your skin and can be used as a tinted moisturiser.
To ensure adequate protection, apply sunscreen liberally. An average-sized adult should apply at least one teaspoon (5mL) per exposed limb. A full body application includes 7 areas - each arm, leg, front torso, back torso, face (including neck & ear). That is, 35mL of sunscreen for one full body application. Don’t forget the top of your ears, lips, back of your neck and hands.
Before heading outdoors, check the UV Index for the day and apply sunscreen if the index is forecast to reach 3 or higher. There are several smartphone apps available nowadays to check the UV Index. Even on cloudy days, UV rays pass through the clouds and can cause damage. Snow, sand and water increase the need for using sunscreen as they reflect the sun’s rays, so re-apply every 2 hours especially after swimming, towel drying or exercising.
